Radio Westerns

Speaking of Rangers on the radio, Old Time Radio Catalog (otrcat.com) is a company that offers a huge variety of radio programs on disc for extremely reasonable prices. Each disc costs $5 and because Old Time Radio uses a low MP3 bitrate, it can cram hours of programming onto each disc. The company offers a sizable number of Westerns, including a two-CD collection of the Tales of the Texas Rangers, which contains more than 90 episodes. One of the recent additions to the catalog is a collection of John Wayne radio performances that include full-length adaptations of Red River, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon and Fort Apache.

There is a website-Zootradio.com-that offers all of its old radio programs on-line for free. At a glance, it looks like at least 60 Tales of the Texas Rangers are available for immediate listening. Also a couple hundred Gunsmoke episodes and the list of programs goes on. You'll find all of your old favorites on this site.
