St. John Colon at the Southwest Museum of the American Indian

NELAart Second Saturday Gallery Night Opening at the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Featuring St. John Colon.

Exhibition Run: October 10th - November 8th.

St John completed his Master of Fine Arts Degree from UCLA in 1995, concentrating in the discipline of printmaking. His Bachelor of Arts Degree is from Georgetown University. His early work involved a great deal of experimentation with aqua-tinting and the use of stencils in his etchings. Ultimately, with the advent of computer technology, computer assisted imaging became more vital in the role of creating his fine art.

St. John is currently exorcising his creative demons in video games. He began his career in video game entertainment in 1996 and is currently the Principle artist at Heavy Iron Studios. At Heavy Iron he has been instrumental in the creation of video games from Sponge Bob Square Pants to Ratatouille and more. St. John serves as an adjunct Professor at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and on the Advisory Board of the Inner City Education Foundation of LA arts program and has lectured at the Art Institute, Otis College of Art & Design and Sacramento State University.

St. John brings to his artwork a wealth of life experience interwoven with visions of fantasy.

The Southwest Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m.
